Arts Program
In 2010 Barkly Regional Arts has move towards developing distinctive arts sectors within the organisation. The successful development of the Winanjjikari Music Centre into a largely self-managed centre with its own management structure, goals and funding sources has inspired Barkly Regional Arts to also develop the other regionally strong arts sectors of Visual Arts, Youth Performing Arts and the Desert Harmony Festival. This will evolve over time and meanwhile Barkly Regional Arts acts as the overarching management and development organisation.

As independent and financially autonomous arts sectors evolve within the Barkly Regional Arts organisation, each arts form will necessarily develop a specific artistic rationale. However the overarching organisational artistic rationale will firmly guide the sectoral artistic direction. All BRA artistic outcomes will therefore be guided by the CCD framework within which we operate: using the arts as a tool for community development and well being - creating pathways to further employment, education, training, health, skills development, cultural maintenance – making a difference. Using our successful Winanjjikari Music Centre model for sectoral development, the artistic programs from each sector will not only be focused on producing excellent artistic outcomes, but, most importantly, the process of achieving them – community engagement, skills development of artists and capacity building of arts workers to promote sustainable, resilient programs and sectors within the organisation.
