Position Vacancy - Visual Arts Support Field Officer
Barkly Regional Arts (BRA) is seeking a Visual Arts Support Field Officer for its office based in Tennant Creek. The position will be predominately managing and coordinating the Artists of the Barkly – Visual Arts Support Program in team with another Visual Arts Support Officer. The position is based in Tennant Creek outreaching to five communities in the Barkly region.
As Visual Arts Support Field Officer at BRA, the position will also collaborate with BRA management to source funding, develop sector strategies, and embed reporting and evaluation tools into the program.
Barkly Regional Arts (BRA) is the regional hub for the arts in the Barkly region operating out of Tennant Creek. The Barkly region is a huge, expanse of nearly 3 00,000 square km between the tropical Top End and the arid Red Centre in the Northern Territory. Its remit is to deliver arts programs and initiatives in the Barkly Region guided by the Community, Arts and Cultural Development (CACD) framework within which we operate: using the arts as a tool for community development and well being - creating pathways to further employment, education, training, health, skills development, cultural maintenance – making a difference.
With long-term arts funding from Australia Council for the Arts – Community Partnerships and Triennial funding from Arts NT, Barkly Regional Arts has evolved from a project-driven to a program-driven arts organisation. Critical to these programs are that Barkly Regional Arts provides an interface between mainstream and Indigenous cultures that reaffirm core Barkly Regional Arts values including a celebration of and respect for cultural diversity and recognition of a unique Indigenous demographic.
