An amazing digital initiative called Arts on The Map has been launched on the net to connect audiences and artists in innovative ways.
Unveiled by the Australia Council for the Arts in November, the project reveals information and stories from up to 200 publicly funded arts organisations from across the nation through Google Earth.
We’ve already put Barkly Regional Arts on the arts map, with a little blurb explaining the organisation’s role in nurturing the creative expression of the Barkly Region and showcasing its diverse cultural riches to the global community.
Several stories have been uploaded, including the redbRushin' project which provides ongoing support for artists in the remote communities of Mungkarta and Mangalawurru and a video of the Desert Harmony Festival 2009.
The Google Earth Map will run on any browser but if you can install the Google Earth Map plug-in it’s a lot more fun.
